Sometimes....

....after a rough night, when The Boy doesn't go to sleep even when he has been rolling around in his crib for two hours, then sleeps for 4 hours only to wake up screaming and insisting on being rocked (not even lying in mom and dad's bed would suffice) for an hour until mom gives him a second binky (to hold) and lets him "cry it out", I like to reflect on happier sleeping times, like these:

This one was taken just yesterday when The Boy had a three hour nap.

I love when he takes three hour naps.

Labor Day

Today we labored in the garden, or what may some day be our garden. Right now there are a few tomato plants, lots of raspberry bushes and too many botanical mysteries. We just like ripping stuff out. The Boy worked hard too, picking tomatoes and throwing them, trying to eat rocks, and getting in the way.

Raspberries!

Tomatoes are just like balls and must be thrown!

My Crafty Self

Look what I made! Well, my mom and I made it together.
I am too sewing-challenged to do this by myself.
Next project: baby quilt for Bean's baby.

A Problem?

This is how I find The Boy most nights.
Sometimes when I lift the blanket off he is still awake and he smiles or laughs.
When he has fallen asleep I take it off and sometimes he puts it back on. I guess he's OK under there besides getting all sweaty.

Fun with Balls

The Boy loves balls! One morning he proceeded to put all of his balls in his onesie. I think he had like 6 or 7 wiffle/tennis balls in there. Then he tried his beach ball, but that didn't fit!

Doing something right

The other day it was quiet for a minute, then two minutes. I quickly set out on a search for The Boy. To my utter surprise and delight, this is where I found him.....
....in his room in the rocking chair reading.

So even though he doesn't eat or talk, at least he loves to read.

I must be doing something right.

Hobble Creek Half Marathon

Last Saturday we ran the Hobble Creek Half Marathon. It was a good day for all. Brett took 3rd overall male (he was 4th overall). I got a PR with a 1:33:59. And Brett's mom and her friend completed their first half marathon in around 2 hours! Yay! Go us!
Post-race pic.

The Boy and daddy.

Brett's award. He also got $100. So after our registration fees, he made about $20!

A HUGE thank you to Grandpa and Aunt Bean and Uncle Shmeeli for watching The Boy!!!!
